Cad digger 728
Ok so just what the hell is it?
The Cad Digger is a stand-alone backhoe that can be towed by a car.
And can go in to places that you can't get a full size backhoe or wound not want to.
On the job site you move it crab like with the bucket.
It sports a 14 inch bucket and can dig to 6 feet deep and has a reach of 10 feet an a loading height of 5 feet.
It is powered by now get this an 8 HP Briggs & Stratton and generates 3000 pounds of ripping power at the bucket!
I built it two years ago from plans I got from Cad plans. There was no machining needed. The tools needed to build are a cutting torch 4 X6 band saw and arc welder and assorted hand tools.
If you order the precut kit you won't need the torch or the band saw.
The plans and the design are top rate and when you buy a set of plans, Now get this you get Tec. Assistance.
If you have a question about the plans or about using materials you have on hand your are given a phone number that you can call in the evening. Great people to work with.
I give them top marks all around.
There are only two things I would have done different.
One I wished I had this web site up when I was building it so I could have documented it. And two I should have done it years ago in the last two years of hard use it has more than paid for its shelf and has held up well.
Check out their web site CAD PLANS.com. For plans for the 728 and other model diggers and end loaders.

Here is some trench work for a out door wood stove I am putting in.
The 14-inch bucket and 10-foot reach made short work of a 40 foot long trench.

Major digger damage
This is the last of 3 old farm out building foundations
That were tore out this summer.
This thing is no toy!
It's a lean mean digging machine

Dear old John was use to drag off the rubble

The learning curve is thankfully short for moving it around and digging with it
It uses about 2 to 3 gal. of gas a day and you can move a hell of a lot of dirt in a day

Beats the hell out of a pick and shovel !
All in all this has been a fun project to build and run well worth the time and money.
I plan on adding a thumb so I can pick and move large hunks of firewood on to my splitter.
